Justin Drew Bieber, born on March 1, 1994, is a Canadian singer known for his genre-blending musical style and significant impact on contemporary pop music. He was discovered in 2008 by American record executive Scooter Braun and signed to RBMG Records. Bieber gained early fame with his debut seven-track EP My World (2009), quickly becoming a teen idol.
His second studio album, Under the Mistletoe (2011), made history as the first Christmas album by a male artist to debut at number one on the US charts. In 2012, Bieber embraced a dance-pop sound in his third studio album, Believe, and became the first artist to achieve five US number-one albums by the age of 18.
Between 2013 and 2014, Bieber faced several controversies and legal issues, significantly affecting his public image. However, he made a strong comeback in 2015 by collaborating with Jack Ü on the Grammy-winning track “Where Are Ü Now,” which influenced the sound of his fourth studio album, Purpose. The album featured three US number-one hits: “Love Yourself,” “Sorry,” and “What Do You Mean?”, and helped Bieber become the first artist to occupy the top three spots on the UK Singles Chart simultaneously.
From 2016 to 2017, Bieber expanded his reach through major collaborations, including “I’m the One” and a remix of “Despacito.” Both tracks hit number one on the US Billboard Hot 100 just a week apart, making him the first artist in history to achieve back-to-back debut number-one singles in consecutive weeks. “Despacito” was later named Billboard’s greatest Latin song of all time and earned Bieber his first Latin Grammy Award.
In 2019, he teamed up with Dan + Shay on the country-pop hit “10,000 Hours,” which won the Grammy Award for Best Country Duo/Group Performance.
