Tragedy has struck Kerrville, Texas, as a devastating flash flood claimed the lives of 32 people, with many more still missing. In the early hours of Friday, torrential rainfall swept through Texas Hill Country, triggering a sudden rise in the Guadalupe River. According to state officials, the river surged an astonishing 26 feet in just 45 minutes, inundating the area with more than 25 feet of water.
At a press conference on Saturday afternoon, officials confirmed that the disaster had taken the lives of 14 children and 18 adults. Search and rescue efforts remain ongoing and urgent, with 27 girls from the nearby Christian summer camp — Camp Mystic — still unaccounted for. Authorities continue to search for others reported missing throughout the flood zone.
More than 850 people have been rescued so far, including over 100 who were airlifted to safety amid the chaos.
