Prince William and Kate Middleton have officially been granted significant new royal roles by King Charles, the palace has confirmed.

Kate Middleton Makes Royal History – And It Could Be a Game-Changer for British Brands

Kate Middleton has just made history in a move that could significantly boost many British businesses. For the first time since 1910, the title of Princess of Wales now includes the authority to grant Royal Warrants — the monarchy’s prestigious seal of approval for companies that supply goods or services to the royal household.

Kensington Palace confirmed this week that both Prince William and Princess Kate have been authorised by King Charles to begin issuing Royal Warrants starting in 2025. This marks a historic moment, as Kate becomes the first Princess of Wales since Queen Mary (then Princess Mary of Teck) to hold this power.

Ian Patrick, Private Secretary to the Prince of Wales, said the couple is “delighted to be able to recognise and celebrate British industry, creativity and skills through the granting of Warrants.”

Royal Warrants, valid for five years, allow selected companies to display the royal coat of arms — a mark that often translates into major commercial value and consumer trust. Recent recipients include Camel Valley (a Cornish sparkling wine producer), Welsh knitwear firm Corgi Hosiery, and Jo Hansford, Queen Camilla’s longtime hairdresser. Many of these businesses have reported a sharp rise in demand following the recognition.

What This Means for Kate’s Favorite Fashion Brands

Kate has long been a trendsetter, with her fashion choices frequently selling out within hours. From the Issa wrap dress she wore for her engagement to the floral Ghost gown seen during the BBC’s “Big Night In,” her style has had a major retail impact.

Now, with the power to award Royal Warrants, brands associated with Kate are likely to gain even greater prestige. Designers like Catherine Walker, Jenny Packham, and Erdem — all regulars in Kate’s wardrobe — are expected to be strong contenders. So too are jewellers such as Kiki McDonough and Robinson Pelham, whose pieces often complete her looks at key royal events.

For many of these labels, a Royal Warrant from the Princess of Wales would go far beyond symbolism — it could deliver a substantial boost in reputation, sales, and international exposure.

While there’s growing speculation over which brands may receive the first warrants from William and Kate, one thing is clear: Kate’s new role has elevated her already significant influence on British industry to a powerful new level.
