Biden Slams Trump Policies, Defends Social Security in Chicago Speech
Joe Biden and Donald Trump have had no shortage of clashes over the years, and their starkly different visions for America continue to fuel their rivalry.
While Trump barrels forward in the White House—dominating headlines with aggressive global tariff policies—the administration has also been pushing major reforms behind the scenes. From Elon Musk’s unexpected rise as the public face of DOGE to deep cuts in university funding and efforts to reduce the size of the federal workforce, sweeping changes are underway across multiple fronts.
One person who’s not staying silent amid these shifts is former President Joe Biden.
On Tuesday, Biden took the stage at the Advocates, Counselors and Representatives for the Disabled conference in Chicago. The 82-year-old began with personal reflections on his childhood and family before turning to what he called “an issue that’s front and center for millions of Americans”: Social Security.
Marking the Democratic Party’s Social Security National Day of Action, Biden praised the audience’s commitment:
“Everyone in this room fights for people with disabilities who rely on Social Security to survive—not just physically, but mentally as well. You make sure folks receive the benefits they’ve earned through a lifetime of hard work. What you do is more than a profession—it’s a calling.”
